00 American

A visual documentation project, reflecting on the reality of being american and what it means to me
(Jade Maljojoki). What responsibilities lie within, and how it feels. Photographed by Tali Schmal.

As it’s mostly a longing nostalgia towards a non-existent existence and a feeling of disgust in disguise, I chose to process these experienced feelings, by transforming into these very characters and symbols of what make America, thru my lense.

This is an experimental, research based project. We are releasing batches in Subject Sets.
The First set is - 01 Women.

The Second set is - 02 Freedom of Speech

…is the the most suffocating “Rule” itself.
Women in Politics are told what to wear: heels, suit. Beautiful, not too beautiful: where a revealing inner thigh or cleavage could suddenly mean “you are asking for it”. If you speak up for yourself, you are “difficult”. The pretense of Media allowing everyone to be heard, yet all reality is suffocated under the Scary “Freedom of Speech” by the ones that are saying absolutely nothing. Entertainment.
Freedom of speech in this case is the tagline for a product that does not deliver what it promised.
